Education

The commitment of the IESCT on training human resources has been undertaken through three main activities:

Master of Science, Technology and Society (STS):

The Master of STS, founded in 1995, is one of the first and most prestigious postgraduate programs in the region on STS studies. In 1999 the master became the first postgraduate course delivered in a virtual modality.
So far, the Master of Science, Technology and Society has formed over 40 students, thus occupying a central place in the formation of qualified human resources in the STS field in the regional level.

Graduate Fellows Training:

Throughout over fifteen years, about 70 young researchers have pursued their graduate studies at the IESCT, while another 40 research students have developed their dissertations and thesis’ works under the supervision of IESCT researchers.
IESCT researchers also deployed a set of teaching activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in diverse national and international universities. Our institute’s researchers are also responsible for the supervision of graduate theses in different institutions, which has expanded the original works and the networks linked to the IESCT.

Capacity Building in Technologies for Social Inclusion:

During the past five years IESCT researchers have worked on capacity building for strategic planning, project formulation, implementation, management and evaluation of technologies for social inclusion.

Among the main experiences it is possible to highlight the organization of the first Specialization Course in Social Technologies for Socio-economic Inclusion, Democratization and Local Development issued in the Federal University for the Latin American Integration (UNILA), Foz do Iguacu, Brazil (2012); the training course “Management of production systems to achieve an agroecological differentiation”, held at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA); and the “Capacity building course on Technologies for Social Inclusion” at the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI).
